If you are selling these items and are caught, you should contact an experienced Tampa criminal defense attorney or lawyer.  Often times there are legal issues with the arrests, searches, and seizures in these cases.

But you cannot say stuff like that in front of a cop - its going to get reported.  And if something happens to her husband, she will be the first suspect.  Take it from an experience criminal attorney, DONT SAY IT.  Whether in jest or if you are deadly serious, DONT SAY IT.  Even with a good defense case, a criminal defense lawyer will have a hard time explaining away such a statement.

As with Manny and Bubba, I am really sad that Vic is gone.  I knew him professionally, which is a shame, as I would have loved to have known him more outside of the courtroom.

But at the courthouse, he was a legend.

Vic whipped my butt when I was a young prosecutor.  He was a gentleman about it.  I was enamored with his polish, his presentation.  Like so many others, I wanted to be like Vic.  I learned from that.

Vic was always on time, prepared, and professional.  I learned from that.

Vic had a great reputation with the judges, attorneys, and law enforcement officers.  I learned from that.

Vic continued to work and care about his cases until the end.  I learned from that, too.

I am happy to count myself among those that knew him and litigated with him.

Please say a prayer for him and his family.  Please take a moment to reflect on the life of such a great lawyer.  Take time for your family and friends.  As we have seen for the third time in less than a year, life is too short.

Mark Douglas finds this story newsworthy?  His editors think he’s on to something?  And, it’s on the freakin’ front page???  Please.

NEWS FLASH:  No one cares about this type of case.  Why not investigate DCF as to why Richard McTear was allowed around a 17-year-old mother before grabbing her baby and running off with it (allegedly)?  Why not investigate why the County Commission is cutting the Sheriff’s budget on a yearly basis, and for what?  Why not hold public officials accountable for where our money goes, what decisions they make, and more salient social issues?

Mark, we are no so dumb that all you have to bring us is Springeresque stories.  Or, what YOU think is Springeresque.  Jerry Springer would laugh you out of the studio with this case.  No one hit anyone with a chair, so you are missing the mark, kid.

No, no. . . . nothing important to report.  Instead, Mark Douglas is going to chase around a guy who has to drive to make a living, who has ponied up $10K to the ex, and who spent 112 days in jail because HIS LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED FOR CHILD SUPPORT.  That’s the only law he broke - driving with a suspended license.  And. apparently, the current wife likes him and the ex is the only one . . . complaining (yeah, that’s the NICE word for it).

Scott Andringa is a fine attorney, and apparently, a gentleman.  The bLAWgger would have given you some words that would have required blue ink.  That means cussing, for those of you in Pinellas Park.

Is it a slow news day in Tampa, or what?  Leave people alone, and bring us something newsworthy.  Yes, I read your paper.  I read it FOR FREE online, and do not have a subscription.  So, please don’t start charging for Internet access - I won’t be able to call you out on your lousy stories.

In light of the bLAWgger’s most recent post on Judge Sotomayor, here is a neat story about Vivian Corvo, Circuit Court Judge.  Judge Corvo is an excellent judge, very fair, smart, up on the law, and a Latina.  Former prosecutor, too.  The similarities are striking.  Anyway, as a member of the Bar in Tampa, and a criminal defense lawyer who appears before her frequently, I can say that we are happy to have Judge Corvo on our bench!!!

Here is an excellent article about the President’s Supreme Court nominee, Second Circuit Judge Sonia Sotomayor.  Your humble bLAWgger supports this nomination.  I like her professional experience.  I respect her opinions.  I think it is important to have her Latina-ness on the Court.  My daughters are half-Latina (the good half, of course).  With the HUGE Hispanic population in America, it is about time to have one one the Court.  This appointment only makes sense.  Please, read about this great judge, and read up on your Court.  This will NOT be Mr. Obama’s last appointment . . . .
